It is awarded under the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to various militaries of the world.

The NATO ribbon is worn below the United Nations Ribbon and below the Multinational Force & Observers Ribbon.
If a servicemember is awarded subsequent NATO ribbons (NATO-Kosovo, Article 5, ISAF, Non Article 5), they are permitted to wear the first award they received, and the appropriate number of bronze stars attached.
